Santa's been!

For the past 2 years I've taken part in BoardGameGeek's Secret Santa and my gift arrived today!
My Santa's mother has been unwell so it was delayed somewhat but it was a nice surprise to come home to and hopefully she's on the mend.
My Santa sent me Risk Legacy - a game with a concept I am very keen on. I'm looking forward to talking more about this when I play it. Thanks Santa!
The elves at Shire Games (otherwise known as Nick and Sue) were terribly apologetic for the lack of wrapping paper and, by way of apology, included some additional cards for Dominion - Walled City and Governor. Apology accepted!

  1. I bought Risk Legacy as a gift to myself/my brothers. When I was down to visit family at Thanksgiving, there were fond memories share of Risk games we had growing up. They usually devolved into yelling matches after 4-7 hours.

This got me thinking about Risk Legacy. When it showed up in my FLGS's holiday sale (stupidly discounted for a brick and mortar store), I asked them if they liked the concept. They did and I picked it up.

One brother is adventurous gamer and the other isn't so much. Over Christmas we broke it out for the first game. We had a great time and it came in under 3hrs with dinner in the middle of it. We plan to play it at least once everytime I am down and we should play it out in a 1-2, maybe 3, years.

I was a little apprehensive, but after just the first play, I definitely think it is worth the price if our last 14 equal our first.

  2. Sounds like a good plan. I've got the feeling that this a game you can build into a series of snapshots of what you were up to at the times you were playing. The physical changes will help cement those memories.
Really looking forward to playing it. Hopefully will break out old-school Risk later this month and Risk Legacy either the same day or soon after.
    Thanks for posting!
